Name a thing that’s not digital? Let me give you a few seconds …
Did you go to google and type that question? Caught you!!! That’s how digitally our blood, runs.
Cyber security is an all time favourite , important and highly in demand topic which requires a lot of understanding about the cyber world. If you think, you need to be a cyber expert to be cyber safe, then my friend you are wrong! Let’s see what are some red flags which we casually ignore in our day to day life and blame it on the cyber world!
1. Clicking every link
“Aiyyo!( Read ‘Gosh!’ ),the problem”:
When was the last time you checked for ’S’ in the ‘https:/’ and the secured ‘lock’ symbol in a website before proceeding to read ? Was it Yesterday? Today? Or Never?
This is exactly where the scammers loot your money. They send a link via email which plants a malware in your system/mobile without your knowledge. A scary statistics reveal that 95% of malware is delivered via email.
“Appada!( Read ‘Oh my god!’ ) The solution”:
Check for the ‘https’ before opening a link and after opening check for the ‘lock’ symbol in which ever link you see. Then continue to consume the content.

2. The unopened account scam
“Aiyyo,(Read Gosh!),the problem”:
I am sure you might have come across the below message , very often!

First of all , I sincerely appreciate the effort that scammer has taken to block a card for an account that you still haven’t open.
“Appada ,(Read Oh my god! ) The solution”:
Second of all, none of your cards can be suddenly blocked. Check the number / name from which the message comes. Most of your bank message comes from an authorised source.
Most importantly no bank will ask your OTP via a link / SMS.
Now , print the above line bold and paste it on your mind.
3. Gummy circle scam
“Aiyyo! ( Read ‘Gosh!’ ),the problem”:
There are many online gaming platforms which scam you by starting “Claim your 2000 rupees by clicking the below link : <link>” . Now you click the link, then you’re gone!! Yes, gone, are you’re trapped in their cyber web.
“Appada! (Read ‘Oh my god!’ ) The solution”:
First of all think, “Why on this planet would someone want to give you 2000 rupees just by clicking the link?”. Would you give? No , right? So , when such type of messages come, there’s one golden tip : “DELETE” it forever. Period!
4. One password - All password
“Aiyyo! ( Read ‘Gosh!’ ),the problem”:
What if one your passwords got compromised and you have kept the same for all your accounts. Then let me welcome to the world of doomed decisions! All your accounts are at risk, now.
“Appada! (Read ‘Oh my god!’ ) The solution”:
Use different passwords for different accounts. Especially differentiate passwords between personal and professional accounts. The obvious question that arises now is ‘How do I remember all the passwords?’ Let me tell you a secret hack to do that. Open your notes application on your mobile and keep it in a password / pin protected note. Now please remember this (just flex a few of your brain muscles ) In that note, enter all the passwords with a nick name which only you can understand. For Eg: If one of your passwords is your spouse’s nick name followed by your date of birth , then you may enter the password in the note as (SpNkNamMyDob). This might be a little of tiring task , but definitely not more tiring than loosing a few bucks due to compromised password!!
Before we wind up our blog,
